World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), also called the World Class Wrestling Association (WCWA), was a popular regional professional wrestling promotion run out of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. The American Wrestling Association (AWA) was an American professional wrestling promotion based in Minneapolis, Minnesota that ran from 1960 to 1991. It was owned and founded by Verne Gagne and Wally Karbo. The territory was originally part of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), becoming an independent territory in the late 1950s.

Based in Atlanta, Georgia, it began as a regional promotion affiliated with the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), run by Jim Crockett Promotions until 1988, when Ted Turner and his Turner Broadcasting purchased the promotion, renaming it World Championship Wrestling. Warner Robins native Ron Simmons, who is still considered the most dominating defensive lineman in Florida State history, was named to the College Football Hall of Fame on Thursday.

Ron Simmons was a great All American at Florida State, won many championships and belts in both WCW and held tag team Belt as Hakeem with JBL in WWE. Next stop Wrestling Hall of Fame!!
